Mexico Moments

There are many ways to prepare yourself for a journey out of the country. This particular trip to Mexico will not be for resort reasons... I will not be lounging by the pool, or by the ocean.  This trip will be into the suburbs of Mexico City, Mexico.  It will be a chance to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need.  I am trying to prepare myself by spending much time talking with the Lord, trying to be still and hear how he wants me to serve Him.

This last week I have been reading about Amy Charmichael, a missionary to India, in a book that was written by Elisabeth Elliot.  I have been in awe of her faith, in God as her supreme provider.  He never failed to meet a NEED for her or her orphans....  With that in mind, I began to seek God to meet the need of finances for this trip to Mexico.

Tonight my Pastor came up to me and said that our family had recieved a donation for $500 for our trip.  I almost broke into tears.  It was a sweet moment when we were able to say AMEN, and praise our Great and Wonderful God for meeting this need.

Please continue to partner with us in prayer, as we prepare ourselves to be used of God, and bring glory to Him!

they will be going now....

our little four legged critters will be leaving soon. Thursday is their date with destiny. They will move to a farm in Finley and have to learn to get along with their new herd.
We will miss the melodious sounds of their bleating....in the vain attempt to convince us that they are surely about to die from starvation.

They are growing on the neighbors too.... they have brought over their grandkids to help feed the baby goats.... and the retired veterinarian.... has been seen scratching ears and noses through the fence, all the while wearing a goofy boyish grin.

Hunter leads them from their pen in the garage to the pasture in the morning, calling himself the Pied Piper of goats... he rides his scooter, and bleats at them to get them to follow.... it is absolutely the cutest thing you have ever seen.

Probably good that they are going.... they are starting to drink more milk than the 4 two legged kids that live here ...

goat land... week one

Well tomorrow they will be one week old. We are managing not to kill them, so all is good.

On Monday, a gentleman came by from a neighboring town, and he bought these three little critters. So in about a week, they will go to their new ranch to become accustomed to their new herd.

Hunter was the only one that was sniffly over this.... he has had 3 playmates here for the week.... and he has had lots of fun climbing around with them all afternoon.

Pictures are posted on a slide show to the left... they are just pretty darned cute!... out nieghbor is a Vet.... and occasionally I will catch him looking over at them, watching them play and jump and he just has the goofiest grin on his face....

Our new life as a serrogate goat ranch

Yesterday we began to be the host residence for 3 - 3day old goats. Their momma belonged to our "adopted" daughter Shelly. Normally all the goats live over at our friends, the Antos'. They are the keepers of the animals, and I grow the veggies. This arrangement works well since they live on county property and I am in the city... and we are limited to the number of animals that we can have, and they city hasn't started to regulate vegetable gardens yet ( hee, hee )

So Shelly's goat had her babies and was doing just fine and sometime in the night between Friday and Saturday, she got real sick, and there was nothing really to do by give her pain meds and hope she went quickly. This left her with the problem of what to do with 3 new goats that needed to be bottle fed around the clock. The Antos' would have kept them, but there are only like 20 other goats that are waiting to give birth this month. So we decided to be the nursery for these little critters till they are about 3 months old and can fend for themselves with the herd.

So far we have given them their shots, and wormed them... as I type I hear Shelly building them a shelter.... and they seem to be doing really well. I think that it will be quite the lesson in parenting for all the kids.... because one goat is demanding enough... 3 are, well, going to be BUSY!

OH...and we are expecting new puppies at the end of March....

All I need now is some chickens....
